As someone suggested, this is part of the DVD copy protection and can't easily be done. In fact, try playing a DVD on an extended desktop (not a mirrored one) and it will only play on the primary monitor (and be blank on the other) without special software. The simple -- albeit illegal in the US (good ol' DMCA) solution -- is to rip the DVD and stream that file. I haven't tried, but home video DVD's and most likely DVD copies should work though.
