When you cradle it it doesn't actually sync, it just checks to see if a sync is needed. If it is, it turns the little spinner yellow. I don't think that can be defeated, except maybe to take the Ax out of the cradle.......

I'll have to respectfully disagree....my Axim does sync when I put it in the cradle. It looks at what has changed and then goes through the all of my items that I have checked. It does this even though I have it set up for manual syncing only.
