In my opinion, the Dell protectors are adequate, but they are not for everybody.
They are not designed for full cling contact like WriteShield, Brando, etc., so they tend to slide around a bit. When they do start to cling, the contact area looks slightly darker than the adjacent areas, with tiny little color bands like an oil slick. The Dell film has small holes burned or poked in it in a regular pattern, apparently to inhibit full contact, but it results in what looks like round air bubbles after it starts to cling.
More worrysome for me was the chance of getting grit under the semi-loose protector and making like sandpaper.
Since the full-cling type prevents this ... and has a long life expectancy ... they were preferable for me. There is no adhesive involved, so there are no problems with any residue on the screen.
