It's the same problem I has with an Ipaq upgrade from 3600 to 3800 - the processor changed and it wouldn't restore a backup. Compaq however issued a patch which effectively converted the 'stg' file to work with the new processor and all was well. The patch was made specifically for Ipaqs so won't work. If Compaq can do it I'm sure Dell could - I'm just not sure how quickly the might get round to it. I know from various boards that there are a lot of 'B2' people getting 'C1' replacements so I'm sure that this might become a MAJOR problem. Anyway Tech Support say they will get back to me about this. If they do I'll post any info. :rolling:
If you have done a backup with activesync you should be able to restore it. First off, make a copy of your AS backup file on your desktop to a separate folder. Next, delete your partnership in AS if you have one out there. Then put your PPC back in the cradle. When AS tries to create a new Partnership select connect as Guest. Your PPC should now connect to your computer as guest. Now go and try to restore your AS backup by going to Tools -> Backup/Restore. Goto the Restore tab and use the browse feature to find the backup that you want and then restore.

See if that works for you.
