Thanks!!

Wow.
I will try your suggestion. So far, I have spent a few hours lurking around the dell axim x5 forum and this is NOT an isolated incident!!
Dell does NOT seem to be doing anything about it either.
Other solutions I have heard of are.....

"I FIXED MY ISSUES WITH SYNCING THE AXIM. DON'T INSTALL THE ACTIVE SYNC SOFTWARE OFF THE DELLS DRIVERS DISK, DOWN LOAD THE VER OFF THE WEB SITE 3.7.1, DON'T INSTALL UNTIL YOU INSTALL MS OUTLOOK FIRST , THEN INSTALL 3.7.1 . I HAVE BENN CONNECTED FOR 7 DAYS WITHOUT A CUT OFF. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE OUT THERE.
MORRIS"

"Most other threads are reporting that a powered USB hub will correct the problem."

"I may have fixed the problem. I deleted Active Sync from the PC. I removed all associates files such as wcescomm, wceslog, etc. I then rebooted the PC. After that I reloaded ActiveSync 3.7.1. I then did a soft reboot on the Axim. When I tried to sync again it asked, as expected to form a new partnership. It did that and has worked for two days now. Hope it's a permanent fix."

I admit I've not yet tried any of these as my PC is currently down. As soon as I try something, I'll report back here.

Thanks,
MPbasher!
