If not completely certain the outcome of recommended changes to the registry on my PC, and the software doing the removing doesn't create a backup to use for recovery, I usually export the key (to create a copy) before allowing the software to remove it. I would assume that PM will allow you to back up WM 2003 registry keys. I have PHM RegEdit, which will backup the entire registry, but not selected keys. Better to use caution with the registry, though I've never had serious problems with any changes I've made on a PC.
