The dual display of the 9600 is just for the built in outputs. I use dual display. Most of the Radeon cards you need the pro version to use two monitors. The other ones only support a monitor and a TV. My card has a VGA and DVI connectory. You can get a DVI to VGA adapter and then hook up a regular VGA monitor. You can get 17" monitors for $100 or less now with all the rebates.
The Axim cannot be a dual display in the way the Radeon card means. You can use VNC as described above but that's the reverse of what were mentioning.
The function you describe I do most of them with my Logitech keyboard.
It should be relatively easy to write a program that displays the kind of information that you want on your Axim.
