I've transfered licenced music using Windows Media Player 9 Series to my Axim... it was music bought from od2 in the UK, and when copying it transfered a licence file too... i had to put the SD card in the axim and transfer it through WMP straight to the SD card for it to work.

The licence file is just a few KB, so I leave that on the SD card the whole time, and if I want to play that song I can copy it using my card reader now as the licence file has already been migrated...

Hope this helps some, but I suspect it won't as it sounds like you've already tried this... in which case it sounds like the licence you have for that music does not permit this...
