Netgear MA701 trouble...

I got a MA701 at Circuit City (while my $40 one from Tech Depot was being delivered). I had my notebook at work with a D-link 11Mbit card, so I figured I'd test out the A3 with ad-hoc. Installed the SW, plugged it in, started having strange locking problems with my A3. Cured with Soft reset. Reloaded srivers and reinstalled card, A3 continued to lock-up... to the point where I could not turn off Axim w/o reset. Try to work through the issue with tech-support to no avail. AND, they say that it is very difficilt to get this card to work ad-hoc! OK, maybe I've got a bad card. Exchange it for another on the way home. Install SW, then card, connect to my D-link DI-614+ router no problem. Works great under the infrastructure config, but still cannot get ad-hoc to work. I tried everything (I believe). I really want ad-hoc capability because I share files with a coworker, and it makes it easy (no USB to USB cable running between our desks and down the hall!).
So, I gave up on the Netgear MA701... returned it... and ordered the Dell 1180 ($65 now with 15% off sale). I WAS going to order the 256MB Sandisk SD before I read about all the problems... But buy.com just had 512MB CF cards for $67 after rebate, so my storage needs are met. Has anyone got the Dell 1180 to sucessfully ad-hoc? I'm still waiting for mine to find out. I have D-Link DWL-650 and DWL-650+ PCMCIA cards in my notebooks. I will be buying a SENAO 200mW card shortly to hook up to a YAGI for a little wardriving action. Thanks for your help.
