OK, I think I'm getting to the bottom of this. The reason I could n't find any of the folders you referenced is because you have to select one of the options to "look in hidden files and folders" when you use the XP search function or it won't find it.

So, I DO have the folders you referred to... but I had never made a backup using Active Sync, I've only used the SD card to create a backup file using the Data Backup program on the Axim.

Now I've made a backup using Active Sync of what I currently have on the AXIM, i.e. just the basics. This created my "backup.stg" file. So the only complete "backup" I have is still on the SD card and it is called "backup" with no file extension. Now I'll see if I can simply replace the one I just made with the Active Sync backup program. I'll replace it with the one on my SD card and cross my fingers. I'll let you know how it turns out.
