I am by no means an expert on the sounds of music as I normally just hear rythmn with a lot of noise. The only way I can understand the vocal of a sound track is with headphones.

Just purchased the Sony ex71sl in ear head phones and for me they are excellent. They sound good and they block out background noise. Have been using Sony MDR-NC5 when flying. My home tests revealed that the ex71 cancelled out background noise better. Can't wait for my next flight

Purchased at Circuit City for $49.99 + tax.
