When I moved into my first apartment (no pets allowed).......I got two goldfish and named them Cat & Ferret.

When I eventually moved into a pets allowed environment I got a cat and named her Goldfish. I've had many cats both during her reign and (sadly) after, but she was the best. We were muy simpatico.......if I had a stomach ache, she'd gently lay down on it and purr like a motel-magic fingers bed. She knew my schedule better than any PDA, too and if I over slept she'd climb up on top of me again and slowly stretch out one paw and rest it on my chin until I woke up (this also worked for empty food bowls). She could also open (even) child-locked cupboards, and many's the time I'd find her pawing one open with a circle of the other cats around her, just waiting fo the grand opening. She was simply an amazing cat.

Even in her toothless old age she ran rampant on any other cats in the house. Not being mean, just keeping them in line. Toothless, maybe.......but the claws worked just fine, thank you.

I eventually also got a ferret, but she came prenamed Nicole. And a fine escape artist and thief she was, too. Never found a cage she couldn't escape from, eventually leading to her running away, never to be seen again. When we moved after her great escape, we found her stash.........and all the little things that had disappeared in the year and a half we had her!

Currently in a pet free zone, but soon to change. And the hunt will be on for another Goldfish in my life.
