To check your system when it gets slow, go to Start, Settings, System, Memory and look at the memory allocation. Remember that the white portion of the bar graph is what's in use.
Do a soft reset and check it again.
Even after shutting down some applications, they may not release their memory requirements, until you do a soft reset. Trial and error may show which apps are responsible, after which you can either get rid of it, or ask the developer for advice.
