Your axim is never "off" it sits in a stand-by, or suspended mode so that when u press the power button it jumps right back to where u were. Because of this, it will slowly discharge the battery and if that battery runs out, it uses the backup battery, so you dont lose your data, once that battery runs out, it has the same effect as if you did a hard reset on it
