Not to be advised. The backup battery is there for a purpose. You don't show your device but I'm assuming that it's an X5.

There are some issues with battery types and the current/voltage outputs that may have some bearing on your problem. A quick search of the forum should uncover the relevant information.

I run the X3, so I don't speak with authority on life-span but I gather a backup battery should last around 12 months.
