Welcome to Aximsite, NutriGenie!

There are lots of backup battery issues with the X5. PPC 2002 has a notoriously inaccurate monitor (which is improved, if not fixed, via ROM updates). WM 2003 is somewhat better in this respect.

You can also seem to have a low battery when all you have is a bad connection. Your battery might be dirty (even hand oils can impair the connection). Some members have bent up (gently!) the metal contacts in the battery compartment. Others have put a piece of pasteboard or cardboard between the battery and the cover to press the battery more firmly to the contacts.

Finally, there seem to be some voltage variations between batteries. I don't know if there is a trend to manufacturers, but some even brand new batteries don't have enough voltage to register a decent charge in the axim.

I would strongly recommend against removing the battery.
