The exact same thing happened to me. I too assumed I'd end up with only one Outlook after installing from the CD and Office 2000. But no, I had 2 Outlooks, one Outlook 2000 (?) and one Outlook 2002, and each time I tried to sync I would get an error saying there wasn't anything there. Finally had to redirect the Outlook 2002 to find the inbox, etc. This only after much trial and error and the shock of finding 2 directories of Office and Office 10. Did you finally leave both directories as is? Now that I've got it working correctly I'm afraid to change either of these directories.
