Remote Activesync - win98 desktop by internet
First, my activesync works perfectly by USB cradle with my desktop.
I would like to activesync by remote to my desktop when I am traveling.
My win98SE desktop is hooked to the internet by cable modem (attbi.com - now comcast). Going through a linksys BEFSR41 etherfast cable/dsl router. Dynamic IP addresses, NAT firewall.
I would like to call by fixed modem to an ISP when traveling with my axim and activesync with my desktop attached to the cable modem by internet.
I am able to connect to the internet with the ISP on the axim fixed modem no problem. How do I sync the two over the internet?
I read by Microsoft configuring RAS, DUN, and VPN. Apparently RAS is for NT, Win2000 or XP. Apparently with WIN98 one needs to use DUN. Dun is most often used for modem to modem. So, a VPN needs to be installed on WIN98. With VPN it asks for host adapter or IP address. This is where I am lost. Do I need to change my dynamic IP addressing to fixed?
Are there others that have been able to activesync with their WIN98 desktop by remote over the internet?
