Pete, that's EXACTLY what I'm looking for!

It occured to me after starting this thread that the HTML format already answered some of my requirements, i.e. open-source, "sophisticated" text formatting, etc. However, the default viewer (IE) is pretty lousy for reading large documents.

This uBook app on the other hand is great!

* Reads numerous file formats (.PDB, .PRC, .TXT, .RTF, .HTML, and a number of image formats)

* Loads large files in the background so you can begin reading right away (unlike the delays I experienced with MS Reader)

* Has all the annotation, bookmarking type features you'd expect with an e-book reader.

All in all, I'm hooked!
