I think 11g is 5 ghz, and 11b is 2.4 ghz

so it requires different everything to work. and if I am correct, the dell wifi card, is only 802.11b, so it will only work with 11b.

Also, I don't believe any 11g cards are available for the axim, and if they were they would be in the $500 dollar range I'd assume, since it is a really new band, and it is considerably faster...

did you change the ssid on the card to match the one on the router???
802.11g (54Mbps) is in the same band as the 11b (11mbps) version, 2.4Ghz. the 11a version (22Mpbs) is in the 5Ghz range.

Most of the 11g WAP's are compatible with the 11b standard, I have a Linksys WRT54G (11b and 11g) router/switch/WAP and it works just fine with my Pretec 802.11b CF card with 128bit WEP enabled. The WAP just switches back to 11Mbps when the axim connects.

A 802.11g CF card is not availble yet but PC cards and PCI cards (also 11b compatible) are all over the place and the go for 10-20% more than the same card with only 11b, that's why I bought a 11g router because it was just marginally more expensive than a 11b only WAP so I'm ready for the future ;)

Besides there are no 54mbps CF cards yet, you won' t need it in your Axim.. even 500KByte/s is way over the max speed your axim will ever need.. not to mention the power consumption....
