Just wanted to say that I am using Outlook 2002 at home and 2003 at work and have had no problems syncing with either on my X5.
My suggestion is to delete your partnership on the machine with 2003 and create a new one and try syncing it then. I know my partnership on my 2003 machine was created after the 2003 was installed and I had no problems, so that is the only thing I can assume.
