A lot depends on they type of attachment you receive.
If you receive another message as an attachment you can open it within your Inbox by opening the original message and then tapping the attachment at the bottom of the screen.
If you receive a file attachment you must have an app on your Axim that handles that type of file in order to open it. For example, if you receive a Word document as a file attachment, simply tap the attachment at the bottom of the note and it should open in Pocket Word.
To save an attachment, tap and hold, on the attachment and you will get a pop-up that says Save As.... When you select this option you have the ability to name the attachment and save it anywhere on your Axim, including to your SD or CF card.
I should also point out that all the above assumes you have downloaded the entire message. The default is to only download the header and a small amount of the message. You may have to Mark the message for download then tap on the Send/Receive icon to get the entire message and any accompanying attachments.
