Good deal at Best Buy? Really?
All,
I was shocked yesterday at the deal I received from Best Buy when I purchased a 4-port USB hub to expand my PC's options.
Now that I have to plug in a scanner, digital camera AND my Ax, I had run out of USB slots. Not wanting to have to unplug/replug often, I decided that a 4-port hub would meet my needs since the hub will still allow me to have two slots available.
I was surprised to find a Belkin 4-port hub that retailed for $21.95 was currently under a mail-in rebate that would allow me to buy it at a final price of $9.95. Grateful for the deal, I promptly took one of the last two items up to the register to be rung up. When the employee didn't provide me with the usual rebate forms, I asked about them, especially since the final price was at full retail. The employee told me that the rebate had ended on March 1.
Since I didn't want to pay full price, I took the item to the Customer Service desk for a refund. After explaining the situation to them, I was told that they would be happy to give me an instant in-store rebate for the item. Happy that I would get the deal I originally expected, I told them to go ahead with the paperwork.
Imagine my surprise when I looked at the paperwork and noticed that they gave me a $17.49 instant rebate! For my extra bit of effort I managed to get my hub for about $5.00!
My feelings about how Best Buy does business has gone up and down over the years. Sometimes they seem to be working hard for their customers and sometimes they seem to be only seeking the sales without providing the service that should accompany them.
Just wanted to praise them this time for what they did to make a customer happy. Hopefully this trend will continue for quite a while.
