For one it is Activesync, not Hotsync. But yes you can just sync your Contacts and Calendar with your work computer and have everything else synced at your home computer. To do this go to your work computer, install and open activesync and then click "options", then uncheck everything except calendar and contacts. On your computer, install and open Activesync and click on "options", then make sure everything is checked.
This should not cause a problem, but there have been people saying that when they enter birthdays in contacts, it makes two calendar events to show the birthday because it syncs with two computers.
