I use the Built in storage card to store data from Word and Excel. Word Documents seem to always go to the Built in Storage card instead of the SD card. I guess it is the first available. Excel can be set to either Built In Card, SD or CF as the normal storage places. Sometimes I move Notes over to the Built in Card as I can't find a way for them to automatically save there to start with in the Notes Program. Both Word and Excel allow use of storage cards to be used instead of Main Memory thru their own Tools -> Options screens.

Create a \My Documents directory on the SD/CF card and Word/Excel will let you store documents there. Use Activesync>Explore to look at the root directory of the card and delete the "Ignore My Documents" 0 length file when you create \My Documents.

Generally, I would recommend against putting volatile documents in Built-In Storage. The ROM is only rated for 10,000 writes, as opposed to the RAM and SD/CF cards which are rated for millions of writes. It doesn't take that many writes to the ROM to hit the 10,000 point pretty quickly.
