Default location is the RAM called "Storage" on the Start>Settings>System>Memory screen. It's the 64 or 32 meg RAM that Dell advertises with the machines. Most software is designed to be installed there, but also most will run if installed on SD or CF cards just fine. The one difference is that the load time (Copy from Storage/SD/CF to the "Program" portion of RAM) will be a little slower from SD and CF. Not much, not noticeable, but I just want you to know it's there.

It's a good idea to try to avoid using RAM for storage as much as possible so that the Program portion can take whatever it needs. If you start to run out of RAM the Ax will slow down and eventually stop.

So, for me, I always say no to the default and choose my SD card.
