Apart from actually mapping the network drives, I find the built-in management of the network passwords extremely unreliable and buggy. I tried mapping to multiple different computers/shares with different passwords and was unable to access both at the same time ... Resco would show the host but would not let me see any of the share names, presumably because the stored password did not match. (Net Use actually has a "delete network password" option, but it did not work for me on 2003.)

I did a before<->after registry comparison after doing yet another hard reset and based on that it seems a workaround to this problem is to simply delete the following registry entries wto get rid of any traces of stored network passwords:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\Credentials]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\Redir\Connections]
