Also note that this problem occurred on the new Axim even before I'd installed any programs. Happens right out of the box. The very first thing I did after turning it on and going through the initial setup was to push the email button, and it didn't start properly.
It doesn't happen every single time though. Occasionally it works and it brings up the email screen.
I don't get it.
...and why hasn't Dell fixed this yet?! It's a pretty obvious problem.
