I also run S&D and Adaware and was wondering why new spyware and ad programs just pop up. I haven't downloaded any freeware in a long time and am not running programs like Kazaa. If I've done a scan and don't do any of the prior, how does spyware and ad programs get loaded into my computer. Also, I do run a firewall.

it comes from just going to webpages, many just install while you are surfing the web, even on good known sites some come through
(search and destroy alerts you to some and i have gotten the alert on known sites like pc world )
