As WindWalker suggests, I would try to see if you can drag-n-drop any files to the SD card. If not, you might want to check to see if the SD card is write-protected.

On the side of the SD card is a little slidder that allows you to write proect the card (similar to a floppy disk). This slidder may have accidently been moved to the "Lock" position.
