Tapping the power button turns it off, well the most you can without taking out battery. Pressing and holding the power button only turns the backlight off on the screen. If you just tap the power button will shut everything off including the wifi unless sometimes when you are connected wirelessly to activesync then wifi will keep running. If you don't see the wifi light blinking after you turn the unit off then wifi is off.
