I have to agree with what 'Dpotter' said bout this. (see below)
I was getting the 'invalid message recipient' message when I tried to send e-mails from work, yet it sent them just fine from home.
That's because I was trying to send e-mails from work using my home isp's smtp server. Apparetly that doesn't work.
I had to ask the IT guy what my work's outgoing email server was. Once I changed the outgoing server to match the current isp (and turned on the authenication checkbox) I was able to send email from work.
So now I have two "services" set up for the same e-mail account. One of them has my home isp's outgoing email server and the other has my work's outgoing email server. If I am at home I use the home one, and I use the work one at work.
Thanks for the help Dpotter!

What I found is that although my POP is set to the Road Runner Pop server, the SMTP needs to be set to the Bellsouth SMTP server (even though I dont have an email account with them.
Originally:
POP Server = pop-server.carolina.rr.com
SMTP Server = smtp-server.carolina.rr.com (this didn't work)
Changed to:
POP Server = pop-server.carolina.rr.com
SMTP Server=mail.bellsouth.net (This works!!!!)
