From AS on your PC select Tools, Backup/Restore and uncheck the Automatically backup... option (bottom LHC)
Make sure that you haven't set the device to dim on external power: Start, Settings, Brightness
Can't help...I love Outlook! :D
On the X3, the record button is the recessed button on the BLC of the Axim, press and hold until it beeps: in the old manual P58 give instructions.
