I've had problems with the left and right buttons on the directional pad, too. I don't know if its the same problem as the poster, but i tried assigning left and right to the corresponding directional buttons. Both set to 0x84 and the game won't recognize them. I'm using Pocket Nester though, i guess that's the same as just Nester? I'm using an X30 high by the way, if that matters.
