At any rate, this would significantly increase the cost of using mDVD, as it costs 30 or 40 bucks to get PowerDVD. Is there a free alternative?

Also, does DVD to PPC require a DVD viewing application? Though it costs several times more than mDVD, if it doesn't require an expensive DVD player installed, it would end up being cheaper than mDVD for me.

Gracias.
Here's my experience so far...
I've tried "DVD to Pocket PC 1.2.3" and "DVD-to-Pocket PC" but the output of these don't work at all for me in Windows Media Player. I've tried Pocket DivX player and that didn't work either. So far, the only successful method for me is using the following software in the following order: 1) "Nero Recode" to convert the movie into MPEG4 format. 2) "WinMPG Video Convert" to convert MPEG4 to AVI. 3) "Windows Media Encoder" to convert the AVI to WMV and also resize the video to Pocket PC standard.

The audio/video quality of movies converted this way are excellent. It is a pain-in-the-ass and it takes a long time to process, but in the end, the quality is definitely rewarding. And that's watching it with the default Windows Media Player that comes with WM 2003 SE.
