Actually, the firewall on the PC has no idea where the attempted intrusion is coming from, whether it's inside your network or from the web unless you specifically tell it that it's OK to allow certain computers access.

If you want to use the firewall, check the "Cannot Sync Wirelessly" section of the Troubleshooting section of the WiFi Guide linked from my signature. It describes the ports you'll need to open and the program you'll need to give access to. On the other hand, I don't bother with any PC level firewall since NAT is installed on my router (and I'm sure it's on yours. It's been standard on home use routers for several years). You should enable security, probably WEP since you have the X5.
