I was a Beta tester for mDVD, and although it recommends having PowerDVD for a DVD viewing software, any DVD software will work. It only needs it for the codecs. If you are ripping a DVD, meaning you have a DVD Rom or DVD writer, chances are that it came with DVD playing software so you should be good to go.
