I'm not sure which PPC you have but the current ROM with the X30 has the Odyssey client which gives you a list of networks and allows you to chose. I think the Dell WLAN utility, also on the X30 and on the X3i also gives this ability. I generally use WiNc (payware) on my X5 (with PPC02) and iPaq 2215 (with WM03) and have tried WiFiFoFum (freeware) which seems to work well, too.
