I have been using FairUse along with Windows Media Encoder to successfully get some DVDs onto my PPC. I am still playing around with all the settings, but so far, I am having pretty good success. It is a bit time consuming but it is only two steps. FairUse is shareware (any donation gets you the full version) and Windows Media Encoder is free. I was considering purchasing an all in one/single step solution but so far so good with this option.
