To add to that, one might also consider switching to .WMA format, as I have done, since it seems to be more efficient. I converted my MP3s to .WMA format at 48 kbps, which is quite good for listening on the go using the Axim. in doing so I managed to get a 4+ MB song down to just over 1 MB. Some are even smaller, depending on the run time.
