I'm a little confused, so correct me if I'm wrong. The reason I'm assuming that they told you that you would need to buy a new one is because your Axim is out of warranty. So, since Dell does not repair them, that would be their response, which is normal.

Anyhow, check out the thread that Jake pointed you to. Also, you can purchase a replacement digitizer for the X5 for a nominal amount. Again to concur with Jake, I would get it repaired, and sell it on eBay, and include the accessories with it so you can recoup some of your loss.

Just remember that you have some good options here . . .

BTW, do you have a screen protector on your Axim?
