I take it you bought a TV tuner card for your PC. Yes, you will need a separate connection to the tunner card. Although you can use a splitter on the cable feeding your cable modem, you should be aware that you might affect the operation of the cable modem. The recommended way to install a cable modem is to split the cable feed into two as it comes in, with one side being dedicated to the cable modem, with the other side used for the televisions.
That said, it may work perfectly well. I have my cable modem sharing the feed to a TV set, and it works well. It all depends on the strength of the incoming signal.
