Get
Scott Seligman's KeepAlive, a tiny free app which simulates keyboard activity behind the scenes to temporarily disable power-off. A Start Menu shortcut makes it easily accessible when needed, or map a button, or whatever. It's worked on every PPC I've used.
For faster infrared transfers I recommend using TotalCommanderCE, which implements OBEX far better than does Resco Explorer. My transfers from PPC to PPC or PC are about 5 times faster with this. On the PC side I just use
QuickBeam, set to auto-receive. No Activesync needed that way. Apparently with 2000 or XP it's not needed, but as I've only 98SE QuickBeam is the best infrared solution.
