I got the 300 and a 128 mb card. From other posts it appears that the 400 only runs 8% faster than the 300. Probably not noticeable with most programs. The extra ROM may be useful if there is an upgrade that exceeds 32 mb otherwise you can use the SD to make up the loss of 16 mb of ROM. Same for the extra 32 mb of RAM. Programs that are stored on a card will load slightly slower but most will run just as fast because they are running from RAM.
So if you are trying to economize you will probably not see much difference. Both models a good deal. IMHO
