But this is comparing two completely DIFFERENT things. In this post, you're comparing a 60GB 1.8" Harddrive to a ~0.85" SD card. Try stuffing a 1.8" harddrive in a PDA and watch how much larger the PDA will grow in size/weight. In terms of SMALL memory, flash-based is definitely the way things are heading. I can't even see why a company would bother doing R&D for an SD form-factor hard drive, as it would be much cheaper/faster/efficient to use flash-based memory.
I'll be surprised if you ever see an SD-based HDD get very widespread in the industry.
