well as for the range...I couldn't tell ya..I do not have an access point..my school has free wireless in most classes, and thats where I use it and it has performed perfectly.

Just to give you an idea, I live in an apartment complex, and someone in the complex has a router, and I know for a fact it is not the floor above or below me, I am in the middle of a 3 story, so it must be another building....

And I get signal anywhere from 50-89% depending on which room I am in..
