You're almost right. The TX & RX on the Axim side are jumpered together to only pin 2 on the eTex (that part you had right), however the ground goes from eTrex pin 5 to pin 5 on the Axim. The grounds have to match up, otherwise you get no signal. Pin 1 isn't used on either side.
