Buying Axim from Dell Small Business vs Dell Home

I've made my decision -- I'm going to buy an X50v, along with a couple of accessory items and a 3-year CompleteCare warranty. Although I'm a market-level MIS Director in a company with a strong relationship with Dell (the only thing we'll buy these days), this is a personal purchase, not a company thing. All our Dell buying is done at the Corporate level, so I don't personally have a relationship with anyone in Dell's sales force, which would be the best way to get the deal I need. I had our corporate Dell buyer get me a quote from his guy, and it's higher than the online pricing from either Dell Home or Dell Small Business. Go figure.

So now the "fun" begins... hunting for the best price, for that elusive coupon, trying to guess whether there will be a "better deal tomorrow." I really enjoy the hunt sometimes, but right now I'm short-staffed and I've got work to do. I need to quit playing around with this thing and make a purchase. I'm growing weary of stuff like "Delf coupons" (Anyone need a coupon for 50% off of a $100 printer? That seems to be the only coupon that... uh... lady wants to give me! I've got a bunch of them!). I'm getting tired of great-looking "stackable X$ off coupons" that, in spite of the claims made by some posters, will NOT stack with the 15% off sales and/or Axims. If I were spending company funds instead of my own, I'd just buy the silly thing in the name of "time is money"... but when it's my own more shallow wallet, an extra $25 or an extra 10% is a lot more significant.

In the past, I've done some buying (notebooks) through Dell Small Business. Generally speaking, the deals have been better there on the stuff I wanted, without a lot of entry-level consumer fluff that I don't need. It's been interesting comparing the online Axim pricing from Dell Home vs Dell Small Business. Some things are higher priced on one or the other, which doesn't necessarily make much sense. For the same items (what I currently want to buy), the subtotal (before shipping and tax, with no additional coupons or discounts applied) for Dell Small Business is $582.25. For Dell Home it's $607.75 Still, Dell Home has the better bottom line, as Dell Small Business charges $43.69 tax and Dell Home charges NO tax in my state (Arkansas).

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's a hint of schizophrenia going on here.

So, would one of you guys from Dell save me some time and help slow my hair loss? I know that every business has a "bottom line price" that is the lowest at which a particular product will sell. That's what I'd like to pay (or as close to it as possible). What I'd really like from Dell is a reasonable way to cut through all the baloney (like the Delf thing, coupon codes, and such)and get the best possible price without all this "stuff" in the way.

Here's what I want:

Axim 50v
Rhinoskin Aluminum hard case
USB Travel Sync cable + cradle
Stylus 3-pack
3-year warranty with Complete Care

I'm located in Arkansas.

Even in the midst of this frustration, I still love my Dells. I'm glad our company made the switch to buying Dell servers and workstations exclusively -- I wouldn't have it any other way! :approve:

Thank You in advance.

D.
