Problem:
Recieved Axim x50 12/16. Connected it to my Dell and it wouldnt recognize. Rebooted several times and nothing. Everything worked fine except USB. (USB does power my webcam to light up, but wont recognize it). Plugged Axim to Compaq laptop and it recognized and synced fine.

Temp Solution:
Called Dell. They say it couldnt be the Axim, but after 90minutes support confirmed the USB ports are dead. Sent a motherboard which i installed today and everything synced fine. Several hours later came back from work, plugged in Axim and computer froze. Reboot and no USB again.

So im extremely pleased with Dell support, but im worried that theyll blame this on "user error". But it seems like the Axim is whats doing this to me. Luckily ive got them cornered because they cant play the blame game since both are dell products. But i am curious to see if in any way this could be my fault and not the Axim.
As you may have seen, I had a bum cradle that fried 2 motherboards as well - non-Dell motherboards. I am in the midst of "negotiations" to get them to compensate me in some manner. Problem is, the CS manager isn't returning my calls. They sent me a replacement order: not just the cradle but the X50v and everything else (cables, ac adapter, etc...). Until I get some satisfaction WRT the motherboards, they won't be getting the old X50v back. :D
