Shouldn't Axim power-off after Reminder Alarm (on battery power)?

I'm noticing something today that may be normal, may not, but I'm just not sure. 99% of my workday my X30 is in my cradle at work. When a reminder alarm pops up it repeats until I dismiss it. Normal so far. Today, I'm home on vacation, Axim is undocked, alarm reminder goes off. I ignore it, thinking the Axim will power down after 1 minute, as I have it set to do. Maybe an hour goes by, I go to my Axim, and it is powered on (screen is dim) with the reminder alarm on the screen.

Shouldn't the Axim power down after a minute regardless? Why is this alarm reminder keeping the unit powered up, wasting the batery? On the cradle it is a non-issue, and with almost all of my alarms during "business hours" and during on-cradle time, I guess I've never really noticed this before.

This is on A03, using PI, Pocket Breeze, and SPB Pocket Plus, newest release.

Thanks for your help.
